In December 2007 Assyrian Aid Society - Australia contributed Au$10,000
to AAS-Iraq for part of education expenses for the academic year 2007-2008.
From mid
of Sept 2007 there was a large turnout at the Assyrian schools
specially after thousands of families immigrated to the areas of Nineveh plain
and other nothern areas, and to Dohuk governate. In addtion there
were lot of college students from Baghdad, Mosul and Basra who had moved their
studies to Dohuk and Erbil. This means that the burden
increased on the Assyrian Aid Society. Many of Assyrian schools suffer
from lack of teachers, and Assyrian Aid Society Iraq are obliged to pay
those teacher's transporation fees and bonuses to agree to give lectures in the
far away schools, which don't have full teaching staff in various fields.
