In May 2005 Assyrian Aid Society – Australia Contributed Au$9309.75 to AAS – Iraq for building houses (Dehe).
As humanitarian organization AAS-Iraq main aim is how to make our people get back to their original villages. There are now 13 families living in ten villages, 3 in Araden and 4 in Dehi within Sapna area, Dohuk governorate, living in tents and with their relatives in same houses which are very small.
There is a NGO organization working in the area called Mission East promised these families to build them new suitable houses, but their conditions are to provide them only by building materials and the families have to bear the labour costs which are about 30% of total cost.
These families can’t bear these costs, estimated about $3,500 for each house, our solution and suggestion is bear these costs as AAS-I. The total costs for 20 houses are about $70,000.
